Review Standarts
Our main goal is to provide full and useful app reviews. Our authors strictly follow the rules: minimum 15 hours of the real app usage experience or gameplay, test on main Android and iOS versions, test on phones and tablets.

Online banking has gained traction significantly over the last few years, and Chime is one of the latest additions to this fray. You can automate savings and avoid expensive overdraft fees with Chime while leading healthier financial lives.

Interface - 5/5

The white and green color contrast on the app blend well, while the UI is very simple, clean and intuitive. The menus are also well designed, and it’s hard to miss anything that concerns your account when you open the app. The great thing about Chime is the fact that you can focus on a single aspect of your account with each screen. This makes using the app not only faster but also more enjoyable.

Content and Features - 5/5

Chime is an online bank account that gives you full control of your money. Once you download the app, you can proceed to set up your account by entering your password, PIN, and email. Then you link to other bank accounts that you have, for example, a salary account. Once the account is finalized, you will receive a debit card after about two weeks. With Chime, you don’t need to maintain a minimum balance to operate the account. The account is FDIC-insured, which means that all your money is safely stored.

With a Visa ATM, you can access your money from thousands of countrywide outlets without ever needing to go to a bank. The app lets you create direct deposits say from your employer, and you can also set up automatic savings to a separate account. Chime offers a checkbook feature where you can send a check limited to $5000 per transaction and $10,000 per month.

Usability - 5/5

The app is quite intuitive and simple enough for anyone to learn how to set it up and use it at first try. The app is responsive, and you’ll experience very few hitches while using it. The main problem when setting up the app is how long it takes for Chime to send you a Visa card, usually up to two weeks. The menus are straightforward, and everything works quite fast. The fact that Chime developed an app that syncs so flawlessly with the mobile experience makes it a quick sell for anyone who is tired of long bank queues and unfriendly tellers.

Compatibility - 5/5

The app is compatible with Apple devices running on iOS 10.0 or later (for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch), and those running on Android 5.0 or later. Chime generally experiences very few glitches, even on Android where the developers have to account for the wide variety of specs.

Conclusion

Chime is a great way to access your money without ever going to the bank. You can do virtually anything with it: set up payments and transfers, save money, get an early receipt of your salary and access your cash from over 38,000 countrywide outlets. Chime is an excellent alternative to conventional banking.

Pros:

  • You can set up direct deposits and savings checkoffs
  • You can withdraw cash from select ATMs free of charge
  • You can send checks directly
  • No overdraft fees

Cons:

  • The Visa card takes too long before it is delivered
  • Low-quality card
